Dolly Parton Milk Gravy


This is so easy and really fast.  I make the healthy version and it's great, but of course the fully leaded is even better.  Don't leave out the thyme, it's what makes the gravy.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2½ cups whole milk - or 2% for healthy version
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream - or fat free half and half for healthier, it works great
  • biscuits and sausage patties, for serving
Steps
  1. In a small bowl, combine the flour, salt, thyme and pepper. Gradually whisk in milk and cream until smooth.  You have to get it smooth before you put it in the skillet or it will lump.  If you have problems, you can always blend it in the Nutri Bullet
  2. Pour the mixture into skillet or saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutes, or until thickened.
  3. Serve over biscuits and sausage patties.
